Once again, we didn't have to get up too early today. Shortly after nine, we were picked up at the hotel. We headed directly to a small motorboat in front of our hotel - including luggage. Since flip-flops are the primary footwear in Indonesia, it’s not a problem to board a boat on the beach - in the water. There are no docks - the boats are simply lined up next to each other in the water.Water TaxiArrival in LombokIt took us about 10 minutes to get over to Lombok. There, waiting for us at the beach was our guide with a car.
Our first stop was a local market. This market had pretty much everything - from fruits and vegetables to rice and fish, as well as chickens (both in parts and alive), and also clay pots and loose tobacco. The olfactory experience was impressive (our kids describe it as 'a scent explosion in the worst sense'). One comes to appreciate the local supermarket.
Afterwards, we headed to the Singang Pitu and Sedang Gile waterfalls. The short hike to the first waterfall was mainly downhill (according to the guide, about 400 steps). The second part of the tour became more adventurous - for part of the path we had to wade through the stream fed by the waterfall. This resulted in most visitors walking the second part of the way in flip-flops. The waterfall itself was quite impressive. However, we refrained from swimming below as the water was very chilly. There were monkeys here too, but they sat peacefully at the side of the path.
Air terjun singang petuneSendang Gile WaterfallAfter returning, we had lunch with a view over the valley to the sea. A little further on, we visited a traditional Sasak village. Here, 25 families live together according to age-old traditions. The houses were entirely made of bamboo and reeds. Cooking was done over an open fire. Next, we traveled to our hotel on the west coast of Lombok. On the way, we passed through the 'Monkey Pass' - a pass located about 500m high, where many monkeys live.
At the hotel, we briefly went to the pool - with a great view of the sea.
Afterwards, we had a cocktail at sunset.Today's entry on creative showersDinner was chosen from a small local restaurant.
