After a somewhat exhausting taxi ride the night before, during which we had to emphasize several times that we would like to simply pay the price on the meter, today we took all public transport in Bangkok. We started with the bus, which comes in different quality levels in Bangkok. The most expensive ride is with one of the new, air-conditioned buses. We took the cheapest ticket as our bus only had open windows.
It was definitely an experience. When we came to train tracks, where the bell was already ringing and the red light was blinking, the driver still drove quickly. Unfortunately, there was a traffic jam behind the tracks, so we stopped when the barriers were already closing. Unfortunately, we were sitting further back and could see the train approaching us. Fortunately, it was extremely slow, so we were able to get off the tracks in time.
After such a enjoyable one-hour bus ride, we arrived at Chatuchak Market. It only takes place on weekends and houses up to 15,000 stalls selling clothing, bags, souvenirs, household items, and even art.
After an extensive stroll and some shopping, we then took the metro to the Maha Nakhon Tower, the tallest building in Bangkok.
In the 74th and 78th floors, there are observation decks where you can have a view of the entire city.
On the upper rooftop terrace, there was also a glass floor where you could walk and look directly down.
We then took the Skytrain and the public express boat back to our hotel.
