After completing the skydiving, it was time to get the car running again. The battery was dead because I accidentally left the lights on overnight. Luckily, a French couple was able to give me a jump start. The funny thing was that it was exactly the French woman I had done the jump with beforehand. Once the car was running, I drove to a lovely swimming lake where I warmed up the pasta I had from the previous day and then went for a swim. From there, I continued on to Greymouth. Upon arriving at the campsite, I had to sleep for an hour because I was so exhausted. Then I cooked and enjoyed the sunset.
The next day was all about doing laundry and grocery shopping. After that, I wanted to go surfing, and my path took me past the “Pancake Rocks” where I met a nice Canadian woman. She was making a stop as a bus traveler, and we checked out the rocks while talking about traveling.
After that, I went surfing, but the current was very strong, so I only stayed out for a good half hour. Then I continued on to a campsite near Westport. The route there was very beautiful and especially noticeable for the many palm trees. I cooked a curry for myself, rested a bit, and decided to go surfing once more.
It was probably my last time surfing here in New Zealand, but it was a fantastic one. I was all alone in a rocky cove and could surf the waves for a good hour during the sunset. Luckily, the waves cooperated, giving me a lot of joy.
The next morning, I drove 3.5 hours to Māpua.
