Abel Tasman with Jonny and Paula

Upon arriving in Māpua, I met Jonny and Paula; we drank red wine and cooked a fantastic lasagna together. After that, we played a little billiards. The next morning, we planned the coming days after breakfast and a round of Wizard. First, though, we checked out an old tuxedo. Then we bought supplies and everything else needed for the upcoming hike through the Abel Tasman National Park. On the way to our destination, we made a stop at a swimming spot. You could also dive there very well. Afterwards, we headed to the camp.

The next morning, we first drove with my car to the start, leaving the two's car at the destination so we could drive back with it later. We packed everything up, and then headed out around noon. Through the beautiful forest landscape, it was a bit monotonous, but the bays with the enchanting yellow beaches were impressive. At “Separation Point,” we made a stop for diving and a seal encounter. Thankfully, we managed to get through without any sea urchin spikes, and then continued on.

After nearly 6 hours, we arrived and drove back together to the camp where my car was parked. Once there, we cooked a chili sin carne and wound down the evening. The next day, after a brief swim, we paid a visit to KFC. Afterwards, we bought supplies to make pancakes the following morning. In the evening, we played cards and dice games for a long time.

The next morning, we made pancakes, which, after some initial difficulties, turned out well and tasted great. After that, a quick visit to downtown Nelson was on the agenda before our two paths parted again. For me, it was direction Kaikōura, and for the other two, it was down the West Coast, as they found a job there.

It was a beautiful few days with friends!
