Kaikōura 🐬
From Nelson, I traveled through Blenheim to Kaikōura. In Kaikōura, I had booked a dolphin swimming tour. On the way there, I was mostly bored and focused on selling my car,...

After spending a few nights camping outside Christchurch, I sold my car to a family man for $1000. I should mention that my car had an oil leak, a broken water filter, and a dented trunk lid from me. Therefore, I was just glad to be rid of it. I spent one last night sleeping in the car before packing my backpack and moving into the hostel. I sorted through a lot of things.
Upon arriving at the hostel, it was once again an adjustment to manage without much and just with my backpack. I spent the next few days bored, watching series, and planning for Thailand. By chance, I ran into Floh and Eva again, and I played a round of billiards with them while watching the international football match. Later, I also reconnected with Jaron, and he and Jakob went out with some others to celebrate in Christchurch. Then, after nearly 9 months, I finally went to a proper hairdresser. The next day was a bit rainy, so Jaron and I first grabbed a burger and then played FIFA at the library.
In the evening, Theo arrived in Christchurch, and the three of us cooked something together and enjoyed a very funny evening. From now on, I will also eat my oranges with a spoon. Then, I played billiards with a few Berliners and went to bed. Then came the last day for Theo and me, we sold Theo's car to a totally clueless Indian. We ran some last errands and strolled through the city. In the evening, we cooked our food one last time. Afterwards, we went to a few bars with the others and then to the club where we danced until 3, then spent an hour at the hostel before heading to the airport by scooter.
A super highlight at the end.
We checked in around 6 and left New Zealand soil at 8:50. After nearly 8 months, this chapter closes. Upon arriving in Melbourne, I went to a VIP lounge thanks to my new Amex card. There, a buffet and a seating lounge awaited us. After that, I boarded the flight to Bangkok, and Theo boarded his flight to Ho Chi Minh three hours later.
