Onward to Quebec, that was our goal for today. And Montreal made our farewell easier. It was raining.

Before we completely said goodbye, there were still two places we wanted to see.

The Biosphere, originally the American 'Pavilion' for the World Expo in Montreal in 1967. The architect Buckminster Fuller designed the geodesic dome.

The element construction with prefabricated parts allowed for a short construction time. The struts are made of steel, and the surfaces of the triangles were filled with acrylic panels. The diameter of the sphere is 76 meters, and its height is 62 meters.

Unfortunately, it burned down in 1976. The acrylic panels burned within just 15 minutes. They were never replaced. Today, it houses a museum dedicated to the climate inside.
