Day 2 – Lübben celebrates: Local products, music, and fair atmosphere
To end the day, we headed to Lübben, where the big city festival was taking place this weekend – an annual event that brings the region together. Around 30,000 visitors come each year, spread out over the weekend. The city is full of life, music, and scents – and right in the middle is a classic fair.
Between the marketplace and the banks of the Spree, rides, stalls, and carousels are set up. The air is filled with the smell of roasted almonds, bratwurst, and cotton candy. Kids ride the Ferris wheel while adults stroll through the alleys with beer and cucumbers in cups. The fair is an integral part of the festival – loud, colorful, but well integrated.
Alongside, there are stalls featuring local products, handicrafts, street food, and specialties from the Spreewald. There are cucumbers in every variation, linseed oil, honey, herbal liqueurs – as well as flammkuchen, burgers, and beer from local breweries.
The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and despite the many people, it doesn’t feel overcrowded.
Conclusion: The city festival in Lübben is a lovely way to end a day in the Spreewald. Those who come at the right time can experience the region not only in terms of landscape but also culturally and culinarily – with music, specialties, and authentic fair atmosphere.
