So, my pretties, Ines arrived in Cusco today. The bus ride took 12 hours, and I think I pretty much slept through it all, so it went by quickly ;)
But let's start with day 9. Since I'm heading to Cusco this evening, there won't be much to share. I chose La Picota because there is a cross on it, which is my personal summit cross. I could tell you that I walked up and down, but that would be a lie ;). No, we drove up, which would have been quite a distance to walk. The 6 km is not far in itself, but at that altitude, it was a challenge for me, and I still had to catch the bus in the evening. So we took the bus up and the rest with a motorcycle taxi. The young man wanted 8 Soles, which I thought was quite a lot, but fine. Then we had to get out 2 or 3 times because the taxi couldn't make it up the altitude with Ines inside. (I really don't understand that). But then the taxi couldn't move forward on its own either (I would love a smiley here) :)), and we even had to push the taxi. He still wanted his 8 Soles, and when I had a 10 Soles bill, guess what, he had no change. I wonder how that happens. Well, that's Peru for you, and I'm sure it’s like that in hundreds of other countries as well.
So, we (Pepe and I) finally arrived at the top. A magnificent view. It was really worth it to drive up there to my personal summit cross. Then we started going downhill. Pepe says he knows the way. Well… That was one path, fascinating and dangerous at the same time. I wasn't wearing my hiking shoes since they were already packed, so I was in sneakers. Because of that, I slipped a lot. It was often just a dirt path at the edge of the abyss. To be honest, I was a bit scared. Then we walked through a sort of corrugated metal colony. One would say garden area in our country, but people actually lived there. When I think about it, they must carry everything up there, as you can't reach it with a car or a motorcycle taxi. When we got down, we went to my accommodation; we still had soup from the day before, which we ate. Pepe went home again while I took a shower and packed the rest.
Then we headed to the bus station. It looks like an airport with loads of duty frees ;), and at 8:15 PM, we set off towards Cusco. I had a bit of trouble falling asleep at first, but then I didn’t want to stop. And now I'm here in Cusco with Alfonso and Mary, sitting at the table with Ludwig from Sweden, drinking coffee and writing this for you. I don’t have any plans for tomorrow yet, but I'm looking forward to it :
