Day 6 – Among Turtles, Step Records, and Turkish Haircut Art
What day of the week is it today? Honestly, I have no idea. Here every day feels like Sunday anyway – just with more buffet and sunscreen.
The day began as usual: breakfast and sunshine. We could slowly get used to having regular spots for that.
Then Annette came around with an important Instagram update: Nearby, you can supposedly see turtles. And when Instagram says something, you really have to check it out these days.
So we set off this time without a shuttle or Dolmuş, on foot. And indeed: We saw turtles! Instagram was unusually right this time. A historic moment.
Filled with euphoria, we just kept walking... and suddenly found ourselves in Evrenseki, the neighboring district. Apparently, we had significantly exceeded our daily step quota. Our legs were starting to protest.
Fortunately, there are Dolmuşes everywhere here. So back into the little adventure bus and back towards the hotel. Although “towards the hotel” was rather relative, as we were dropped off in such a way that we inevitably had to walk through the shopping street. What a coincidence.
And of course, we had great luck with the stores again. The merchants probably had good fortune with us as well.
After lunch, it was off to the pool. Relaxing? Of course not. First, water polo. Then darts. Apparently, vacation here is a competitive sport.
After that, there was at least a short break before we headed to the barber – or as they probably say here: hairdresser with an entertainment factor.
From last year, we had learned: First settle the price, then sit back and relax. After all, one develops vacation experience.
In the end, we looked absolutely presentable again and ready for the evening. So we continued to dinner, and soon the show would begin, which we would, of course, enjoy comfortably. Ending the evening relaxed has now become quite the tradition.
And tomorrow? Probably something again between relaxation and completely unnecessary adventure.
