Day 5

Day 5 – Clouds, Leather Bags, and Cocktails with a Thunderstorm Backdrop

Once again, the fifth day of vacation began – completely unexpectedly – with breakfast. However, this time there was a true sensation: clouds in the sky. Indeed overcast. We briefly wondered if we were still in Turkey or suddenly in Northern Germany.

Since the weather didn't quite know what it wanted, we had the brilliant idea: “We're going to the Old Town of Side.” After all, we are clever and flexible.

So, back to the Dolmuş. For those unfamiliar with the system: A Dolmuş is a small bus that connects the cities. Officially, there are about 20 seats. Unofficially, as many people as possible get in until the door barely closes and the driver nods in satisfaction.

Upon arriving in Side, we realized that we weren't the only ones with this idea. Many other vacationers apparently had the same flash of insight. It was quite crowded. But the Old Town is simply beautiful for strolling, looking... and of course shopping.

This time we were particularly taken with a leather store – specifically a bag. And let's be honest: Who can stay reasonable when confronted with beautiful bags? Right. No one. So, we naturally made the purchase. The suitcase is probably planning its resignation by now.

By noon, we made our way back to the hotel and then to the pool. Since the weather continued to play it “let's see,” we first moved to the indoor pool area including lounge chairs. One must remain flexible, after all.

Later, we retreated to our balcony armed with cocktails. The heavy burden of a vacationer.

In the evening, a proper thunderstorm rolled in, which is why the planned show was hastily moved to the lobby. They can definitely improvise here.

The big advantage of bad weather: I actually finished reading my book. With that, the true symptoms of vacation are slowly starting to manifest.

Now we are eagerly waiting for what adventure the next day will bring. It certainly won't be boring.
