Tbilisi's Orthodox Churches

Tbilisi is a city of contrasts: Marked by modern architecture paired with dilapidated buildings, some dating back to the Soviet era. However, what characterizes the city the most are the many Orthodox churches, often built majestically on hills.

The most famous among them is the Sameba Cathedral. It is indeed the largest Orthodox church in the world and is visible from almost everywhere in the city. It's impressive when the light hits the golden dome.

The Metechi Church and the church of the fortress Nariqala were also very noteworthy because of their locations. From up high, one always has the most beautiful views of Tbilisi.
