Penis and Phallus Museum – A Completely Normal Day in Reykjavik

Day 8 in Reykjavik started with high expectations and ended… well, let's say: educational. Early in the morning, we were picked up all cleaned up by the Dolphin Center – Whale Watching was on the agenda. Barely on board, we were immediately given anti-nausea tablets. A subtle hint? Perhaps. A life-saving measure? Definitely.

Because folks, let me tell you: This boat was less “whale safari” and more “floating test of stomach stability”. Half of the upper deck quickly transformed into a collection of pale faces with the charm of undercooked fish sticks. Thanks to the tablet, my breakfast stayed where it belonged – a clear victory.

And the whales? Well… we saw two fins. Two. Fins. The organizer affectionately called it a “No Show” and generously offered us new free tickets. Very optimistic.

Back on land, we headed straight to the museum. And not just any museum. No. A penis museum. Yes, you read that right. Reykjavik truly surprises in every way. Between anatomical wonder and mild discomfort, we bravely navigated the exhibition – a cultural highlight that one does not forget easily.

The weather today played the main role in the genre of “arctic thriller”: freezing cold and windy. Perfect then, to warm up later at City Hall with a classical concert. Very stylish, very calm – probably also because no one had the energy to move anymore.

To wrap up, we strolled up and down the shopping street. From record stores to souvenir shops, everything was there. We bought nothing… well, almost nothing. A small pilsner did manage to find its way into our hands.

The conclusion of the day:

No whales, but fins. A day full of adventures and true Reykjavik moments. Sometimes wild, sometimes calm, but definitely special all around. And somehow exactly the kind of day that makes a trip unforgettable – with stories that will make you laugh for a long time, small moments that stick in your memory, and the feeling that while it’s slowly time to say goodbye, you are taking a piece of this journey home with you.
