Ah, travel day. The day when you set off with great anticipation – and in the end, still spend too much time waiting for something or someone. But let me start from the beginning.
The night was so short that even a mayfly would have said: 'You should sleep more.' At exactly 9 o'clock, my Grab taxi arrived and took me swiftly to the airport. Luggage? Checked in. Security? A breeze. Breakfast? Plenty of time and sufficient choice to keep me happy until 11:10 AM, the scheduled departure time.
But at the gate, nothing happened... absolutely nothing. Not even an announcement to explain the nothingness. At 11:20 AM, still silence. I had already begun to mentally engage the people at the gate in a game of cat and mouse when suddenly at 11:50 AM, it was: Off to the bus! This took us to the runway, where we eventually found our airplane somewhere in the steppe. There it stood – like a lost shoe wondering why no one had worn it on time. With over an hour's delay, we finally took off.
The flight itself? Quite uneventful. Thankfully – because to be honest, I had already exhausted my adventure quota for that morning. After just over an hour, I landed in Da Nang, where I again waited at the baggage claim. My suitcase somehow always seems to want to be the last one. I grabbed another Grab taxi. Destination: Hoi An.
Hoi An – the city of lights, lanterns, and Instagram dreams. My homestay? A dream come true. After checking in, I couldn't help but head out right away. First a little stroll in daylight, but the real magic began after dark.
You have to imagine it: Lanterns everywhere in every imaginable color, floating in the air like little sparks of magic. The streets and canals glowed and sparkled, and my faithful unicorn Ursula? Absolutely beside herself. Or rather: out of the saddle. She hopped from one lantern to the next, squealing with joy, and told me several times that this was already 'the absolute highlight of the trip.'
To conclude this glorious evening, I treated myself to a delicious dinner (don't worry, Ursula also tasted a little) and finally retreated to my room. A bit of relaxation before tomorrow calls for the next adventure. Where to next? That remains our little secret – until tomorrow.
Stay tuned and continue to follow us on our travel adventure!
