Tag 14 Phu Quoc: HAPPY NEW YEAR - HAPPY NEW YEAR

The last day of the year 2024 began for me and my unicorn Ursula with... well, a slight headache. Maybe it was the sun, maybe the lack of water – who’s counting anyway? But New Year’s cannot be stopped, so it was time to get into our swimwear and set off on the journey to “Hon Thom,” also known as the ultimate fun paradise in Phu Quoc.

Our journey began with the spectacular cable car from “Sunset Town” – an 8-kilometer-long aerial trip over turquoise seas. There was a line, but it moved quickly thanks to the 30-person gondolas. Ursula, ever curious, glued herself to the window and counted imaginary fish below us.

Once we arrived at “Hon Thom,” we immediately threw ourselves into the water park. From gentle slides to the “Adrenaline Guarantee,” there was everything. One of these slides starts from a drop flap – sounds harmless until you’re at the top, heart racing included. Flap open, heart out, and suddenly you’re down; of course, I went up again for a second ride!

After the water battle, the wooden roller coaster called. Honestly, I’m not team wood – more like team “rocket launch.” But a coaster is a coaster, and Ursula convinced me. The rattling wood and the racing curves were... well, an adventure, but I remain a launch coaster fan!

Unfortunately, my constant companion, the headache, finally struck hard. So it was retreat to the hotel. Ursula, my loyal companion, fell asleep in the gondola – a scene for eternity. After a pill and a nap, I was finally human again.

The evening? Oh, the evening was a blast. First, a cozy dinner with live music at the “Cheeky Traveller Pub,” before we plunged into the “And Beach Bar.” Beach party, fire show, and fireworks at midnight – the sky lit up, Ursula danced circles in the sand, and we danced our way into the year 2025.

Now we lie here, fulfilled and happy, in bed. Ursula snores softly (yes, unicorns snore!), and I wish you all a sparkling start to the new year.

P.S. If you’re wondering what the two men lying in the sea under the table are doing... Well, they had to hold it down so it wouldn’t get washed away during the fireworks. I would say, fireworks Vietnam style.
