Today we delved deep into the history of Namibia and traveled to the 'living museum' of the San, located in a very remote place amidst bizarre rock formations. The San are the oldest people in Namibia and possibly among the oldest in the world (at least 100,000 years old). In Namibia, they are somewhat of the losers of history, having been displaced by other ethnic groups and hunted and enslaved by European settlers, who were more interested in diamonds than in their rock art or the click sounds of their language.

To survive in present-day Namibia, they show us tourists how they used to hunt with poisonous arrows, set traps, and make fire. At the end, handcrafted jewelry was sold, which garnered interest from some members of our small travel group. By the way, we were almost the only visitors and had to first come to terms with being guided through the impressive landscape by scantily clad young men.
