Game Drive

Today we’ll be getting up a bit earlier 🥱 Our safari in Etosha National Park starts at 6:45 AM.

We are already in line at the Anderson Gate by sunrise, waiting for the gates to open.

The morning breeze hits us cold at first, and we’re grateful for ponchos and warm blankets.

In the morning hours, we can spot many different residents:

▪︎ Antelopes (Springbok, Oryx, Impala, Kudu, Hartebeest)
▪︎ Wildebeests
▪︎ Zebras
▪︎ Giraffes

▪︎ Jackals
▪︎ Eagles, Falcons, Yellow-billed Hornbills (Sazu)
▪︎ Ostriches
▪︎ Ground squirrels

And our highlight at noon is a herd of elephants (27 in total) at the waterhole 🐘 It’s a joy to see both big and small having fun in the water. They express it loudly 🎺

Unfortunately, it has become quite warm now, and most animals are taking a siesta, hiding in the shade of the trees.

We’re unsuccessfully hoping for a sighting of another one of the Big Five ☹️

At 4 PM, we return to our lodge and relax by the pool to end the day.

Tomorrow, we’ll be getting up early again 🐓 We’ll continue through the Etosha National Park to our next lodge.
