This morning we leave our dream accommodation and visit an impressive sculpture park of Lithuanian artists near Vilnius.

After that, we head to Poland through the 'Suwalki Gap'. This is what NATO military strategists call the narrow corridor, approximately 65 km long, at the Polish-Lithuanian border between Belarus and the Russian Kaliningrad. If Russia wanted to test or provoke NATO, this would be the opportunity to cut off the Baltic states from NATO. The German armored brigade stationed in Lithuania is also tasked with protecting this corridor, among other responsibilities.

The fear of 'the Russians' also comes up in some conversations. Perhaps that's why even more Ukrainian flags are flying in Lithuania than in Latvia and Estonia, including at private homes. This war is very present here.

What is NATO propaganda in this scenario and what is a real danger? Who dares to make a judgment on that? And what role does one's own place of residence play in answering this question?

By the time we arrive in Masuria in the afternoon, we have left this gap quite far behind us.
