We weren't quite sure what our plans for today were. But when we came for breakfast, we saw that the weather gave us more time to think about it, as it was raining.
Unfortunately, it rained more or less the whole morning. So we decided to explore the small town by foot in the afternoon. The sun was shining again by then. So we set off and first visited a temple that we passed by. It was a small temple built on a hill, including a small cave.
After the temple, we enjoyed the walk along the Mekong River and the beautiful landscape that awaited us.
The humid weather made us a bit sluggish, but luckily there were small restaurants or bars along the river where we could take a break and have a drink.
We also passed by more temples
and a big market where you could find everything imaginable. However, there was no food available, which was a shame as we were getting hungry. So we ended our walk and headed towards 'Utopia'. We had heard that it was the 'place to be' in Luang Prabang. Utopia was a bar/chilling lounge. There were comfortable cushions on the floor everywhere and there was a nice view of the river from a platform. Since it was the place to be, there were mainly tourists here, and well, that was also reflected in the prices. A beer was almost twice as expensive as in the regular restaurants. But we met a friend there who we had met on the boat. So we chilled out in this lounge and talked before visiting the night market again. However, our visit didn't last long today, as it suddenly started raining again. As if on cue, all the vendors hurriedly packed up their stalls. There was a huge chaos. We managed to buy some food before we went back to the hostel soaking wet. There we enjoyed our dinner.
