Toronto - Kingston
From today, we are traveling by rental car. After a smooth pickup, we started our road trip with some shopping. Once the trunk was loaded with drinks and a few snacks, we were on...

Before we set off towards Montréal, we chose something special. We took a helicopter ride over the 'Thousand Islands'.
Our pilot was from Switzerland and spoke better French than English, but still told us a lot of interesting things about the region. There are actually 1864 islands. We flew at 180 km/h at 500m height over this beautiful region. It was an amazing experience.
Afterwards, we took Highway 2 towards the northeast. It takes longer than the 401, but it's truly worth it. You drive alongside the river. Just the pretty houses along the riverbanks are worth seeing, not to mention the river itself, which is simply stunning in the beautiful summer weather with a few clouds.
And on every island, there's a little house. Sometimes the islands are so small that one house fills them up.
We spontaneously stopped in Brockville for lunch. It was just the right place at the right time for us. While looking for a restaurant, we realized what a pretty spot it was.
The restaurant was a hit. Absolutely delicious and reasonably priced.
After the meal, we explored the area, found an old train tunnel that could be explored, a beautiful park, the central square with three churches, and many charming corners.
A great stopover!
The rest of the drive was quite slow. Especially in Montréal, traffic is an absolute chaos. We were really glad when the car was parked in the garage and we checked into our hotel room.
