From Landau an der Isar to Landshut

Published: 12.07.2023

Yesterday was definitely the hottest day with 34°C. The temperature remained above 30°C well into the evening. Since we didn't have air conditioning, sleeping was initially hardly possible. At some point during the night, a heavy thunderstorm passed over us, bringing a significant cooling. The destination today was Landshut. Actually, it was supposed to be an easy tour without any incline and relatively short (just under 50 km). However, it turned out to be challenging for several reasons. First, we had (for the first time on the tour) a strong headwind. But even more problematic was the fact that the thunderstorm of the night had left noticeable marks on the route. Suddenly, we were faced with a red and white tape stretched across the path. Only on closer inspection did we see why. A high-voltage line had snapped and was hanging across the path. So we had to turn around and take a detour. Further along the way, there was a lot of branches on the path, which forced us to do slalom rides. We had to either bypass or climb over some fallen trees. Nevertheless, we arrived in Landshut quite early, which was good because there was another thunderstorm warning for the afternoon.
