From Berchtesgaden to Oberndorf

Today we took a lazy day. There were several reasons for this. It was somewhat difficult to find suitable accommodation along our route, probably because it was the weekend. So our destination today, Oberndorf, was only about 50 km away from Berchtesgaden. In addition, we had already made a detour to Lake Königssee, which we had actually planned for this morning, yesterday. Therefore, this morning we took it slow and had a relaxed breakfast with a clear view of the sunlit Watzmann mountain. We already knew the route to Salzburg, along the Berchtesgadener Ache and later along the Salzach, from our 2021 tour. However, this time the paths were in much better condition than back then, when a flood had caused a lot of damage shortly before. From Salzburg, we drove to Freilassing, where we treated ourselves to an ice cream sundae (only the second time on the tour, but the weather hadn't been suitable until now). We also made a little detour in the route and went to Abtsee. There, we had an extensive lunch break on a meadow under shady trees. I even took out my swimming trunks and swam in the wonderfully warm, refreshing lake. After that, it was only about half an hour's drive to Oberndorf.
