TuscanyMaremmaElba 8th Tag

Set off quite early today since I had a longer journey ahead of me. First, I drove to Grosseto, and the drives here always take much longer than Google indicates because no one can actually drive the 70 km they theoretically could with the incredibly numerous and deep potholes. 😜😩 So, I struggled along the Stradas Localita in second or at most third gear until I reached the highway—and it wasn't much better!

Filled up the car, dropped it off, headed to the station and first had a nice breakfast there 👍. In the afternoon, I continued by train to Campiglia Marittima, then took the bus to Piombino Porto, on the huge ferry to Isola Elba, and then I treated myself to a taxi from Portoferraio to Procchio, as the next bus wouldn't arrive for another 1.5 hours after I got there and I wanted to enjoy the sun!

And I did, although the clouds sometimes looked threatening, the sun kept shining, and it was a nice warm day. I chose Procchio well, a nice small place with plenty of infrastructure, but manageable, still quite peaceful at this time, and lots of hiking trails that I will explore tomorrow. Until then:

Insight of the day: just don’t always believe the weather report, it often turns out differently than expected!
