2. Tag in San Francisco
Fortunately, the heaters… it got quite chilly at night. I often wondered how precisely here, in this climate, the hippie movement was supposed to have its origin 😎 But never...

So, we have upgraded the blog and can now upload more photos and videos.
That’s why today there are 2 days in one post.
Right on time at 11:00, we set off from SF heading south. We really didn’t want to freeze anymore. So we rented a new place in Arroyo Grande. Since I was eager to drive along Highway #1 (especially from Big Sur), we chose the slightly longer route. The stretch from Big Sur was really great and felt like it lasted forever. We stopped occasionally for photos, had something to eat in between, and congratulated each other on abandoning my original idea of spending a few days in Big Sur thanks to Tina's hints. The coastal stretches are indeed impressive, but apart from a few incredible houses built into the cliffs and 3 campsites, they don’t offer much more.
After about 6 hours of driving, we arrived in Arroyo Grande, a small coastal town 2 hours north of LA. The address of our accommodation is Elm Street... I almost canceled when I read that 😳
A little anecdote about our arrival: we were given house number 362. But there was a car and shoes in front of the door. I didn’t care, I entered the code, nothing happened, except a guy suddenly appeared in front of me, and we had a brief awkward stare-off. But everything was clarified quickly and nicely. There are two 362s, which we couldn’t have guessed 🤷♂️
Pretty little house, everything very new and well-maintained. We can stay here comfortably for the next 4 nights 😇
The next day we finally got to have breakfast again in bright sunshine ☀️ So today was going to be a beach day. Not far from here is Pismo Beach, where we showed up around noon.
Huge beach with very fine sand and thanks to a few waves, plenty of surfers and a lot of seagulls.
Since the sun still had power, we first went to the pier in the partial shade. But that didn’t last long due to the fresh wind. So we moved further back into the blazing sun, and that worked out 😎
In between, there were always delightful scenes with the seagulls, who caused total chaos whenever someone left their spot. They are really intense and grab anything that sparkles or looks like food.
As it got cooler in the evening, we headed back, where we cooked a delicious and low-key meal for ourselves. This was nice again 😋
