After we received our third car from our really nice and uncomplicated car rental on Monday, we set off with Tati to get snorkeling equipment.
On the way to the supermarket, there was a little "shower" that quickly turned the streets into water. It really pours down here 🌧️
Some really nice features here in the supermarkets:
- Groceries are packed into reusable bags by spry seniors, who get a tip of 10 Pesos for their help.
- We have never seen so many ATMs in a supermarket. So, running out of cash won't be a problem 😎
In the evening, we first went to Hemingway, a beach bar, to watch the sunset. Unfortunately, it was quite cloudy, and we ended up at a sushi restaurant with a Mexican twist. There were traditional sushi dishes, but also some with a Mexican touch. It was delicious. Since Tina is still having a bit of a stomach issue, she is dutifully drinking tea 👍 the teapot in the picture could have been used for strength training 💪 it must have been cast iron.
On Tuesday, we of course wanted to test our new snorkeling gear and drove to a restaurant right by the sea on the west coast, from which you can enter the water for snorkeling via a pier. The usual order of coffee came with an obvious sprinkle of cinnamon, which we both found to be an acquired taste.
Snorkeling was fun, but the current is really not to be underestimated. It quickly swept us towards the next pier, which we gratefully accepted as an exit 😎
In the evening at home, we made a delicious yet stomach-friendly dinner. We were so hungry that there wasn’t even time for a photo 😋
We spent almost the entire Wednesday in and around the apartment. The weather was not great, and we had some errands to run, including regarding the tourist visa for Thailand.
During breakfast on Thursday morning, Tina decided to finally find out what it’s like at a Mexican dentist. Easier said than done, after chewing through the hard crust of the really delicious sourdough bread, one-third of a molar broke off.
Thanks to the internet, we quickly found a suitable dental practice on this island and drove straight there. Fortunately, Tina was not in a lot of pain, and we got an appointment for the next day.
As the weather was significantly better today, we then drove to a nice beach where we spent the next hours until evening.
The very nice female dentist repaired Tina's tooth well, quickly, and affordably the next day. Mexican dentist 👍
In the evening, we headed towards Centro, where we had dinner after a stroll, which this time did not quite match our taste 🤷♂️
