Umpffff. What a day. 137 KM were definitely not planned.🥵

Sequentially.

At first I didn't want to believe the signs in front of the dunes near Zaandvort saying "impassable for cyclists". It cost me a 10 km detour. Learning through pain.

Because of the detour, it was a bit tight with the ferry in Ijmuilden (unfortunately not the one to Scotland ☹️), so explosive!

I somehow got there on time. The only problem was that the ferry didn't run according to schedule today. There was a special occasion and the crossing was too much for me.

Luckily, there is a second ferry a few kilometers away and it runs every 20 minutes, so I didn't have to rush. 😤 But the gentleman was determined to take the other one.

BTW, I specifically checked the ferry's website yesterday. There was nothing about any special trips.

Due to these circumstances, my route planning got a bit messed up, which meant extra kilometers.

But I don't want to complain. The weather was great, my legs were good, and the route was great.

I enjoyed every kilometer.

Now I'm sitting here in a great B&B, with a nice couple on the terrace, my stomach full of pasta (I was allowed to use the kitchen), with a nightcap beer and whiskey.

Best life, have a great day. 🥃🍺

Oh yeah, and then there was this.

I was strolling through Egmond aan Zee in a good mood, looking for coffee and cake, when a “colleague” from Wuppertal ran into me.

And since he regularly vacations there with his wife, he had a great tip for me.

Thanks go out to Holger, the apple tart was great. You didn't promise too much. 🥧

I'm curious to see how my legs feel tomorrow. I don't ride a route like this every day. But I'm optimistic.

And speaking of legs. I'm going to put them up now. 😀
