Hello everyone
Today we actually planned to rent a boat. Since one cannot get a boat here without a boating test, we did some research and found out that there is an alternative. Apparently, there is a temporary permit that is valid for 90 days if you complete an online test.
So we sat down last night and took the test.
This morning we made our way to the boat rental with our scooters. But the closer we got to the beach, the stronger the wind began to blow. At the boardwalk, the wind nearly swept us away, and it was really cold...
Change of plans: We bought something to drink at the gas station and went back to our balcony.
Somehow, we were not in the mood to freeze, and the sun was shining on our wind-sheltered balcony.
We enjoyed the warmth for quite a while, then Kevin discovered the plan for our afternoon: Rent a golf cart!
That way, we could still explore Key West a bit.
So we set off with our scooters. At the first rental, there was no one there, at the second rental, there was no suitable rental duration, and at the third, it worked out. Everything went pretty quickly, smoothly, and the best part was: the golf cart would be picked up at the hotel tomorrow morning.
First, we drove to the southernmost point of America. There, people were even standing in line to take a photo with the landmark.
Next, we went to the “Fort Zachary Taylor State Park.” It was a small park, with only one beach - but it was sheltered from the wind! We settled down for a moment, but unfortunately, it was still too cold for swimming.
Reportedly, there are stunning corals here and a huge variety of marine life, which we would have loved to see.
Later, we drove to Duval Street, parked our little car, strolled through the shops, and had a super delicious burger at the “Hard Rock Café.”
In the evening, we made ourselves cozy in our accommodation and planned for the next day.
See you tomorrow, dear ones ☺️
