Back in San José

Now it was time to return to San José to gather the remaining documents and hopefully finalize everything with migration... Normally, the return journey takes 2 days - but I had the incredible luck that on that day a charter flight was going from a couple to San José; and that directly from the Carate Airstrip at the lodge!! A flight lasting only 50 minutes! Such a charter flight probably costs around 1000-1500€ in total for the airplane. It was simply genius that I could fly for free! Not only because of the convenience and time savings but also because of the probably once-in-a-lifetime experience of flying in a small plane (designed for a maximum of 5 people) right over Corcovado National Park, beautiful beaches, and all the other amazing places in Costa Rica! I would describe the feeling as surreal, as within a very short time you went from a place at the very end of the Osa Peninsula back to a huge city. It was just wonderful.

Today I was at the German Embassy and received the expected certificate. Otherwise, I took the day slowly because I was really tired. I found a fantastic restaurant for lunch that resembles a bit of a canteen. For 5000 colones, you can get various dishes that usually include rice, beans, salad, and fish or meat. As a starter, there’s a small soup, for dessert jelly pudding with ice cream, and as a drink a syrup juice (in this case with blackberry flavor). All this for 10€!! This is the first time I can say that it's really cheap and good to eat! The worldwide rule applies: the unassuming places are the ones frequented by locals, where you should also go yourself... I'll be going there every lunchtime in the coming days... Tomorrow, I go for fingerprinting at the police. On Saturday and Sunday, I will work on my university reports, on Monday I will go to migration, and on Tuesday hopefully take the bus back! I am excited...
