Vulkan and Patacones

Published: 14.10.2024

So much has happened in the last few days :)

On Wednesday, we went to the Irazu Volcano. It was super foggy and pouring rain, but the volcanic rocks were really cool, and the view (when the clouds cleared) was truly amazing. The Irazu Volcano is one of the highest in Costa Rica, standing at 3432m. Afterwards, we had lunch at a very traditional restaurant. I had Casado, the national dish. Rice, beans, chicken or beef, and fried plantains. I ordered in Spanish.

On Thursday, after Spanish class, we took a cooking class. We all met in the cafeteria and cooked Patacones. These are fried plantains served with bean paste, cheese, and salsa. It was a lot of fun, and the Patacones were absolutely delicious.

Afterwards, I won at table tennis, so it was a very successful day! :)

I am very much looking forward to the weekend, so stay tuned for photos and stories from the sunny Caribbean coast!

Hasta luego!
