Thau Lagoon, Mèze, Sète

From La passerelle, we follow the route towards Mèze. Part of the path leads somewhat away from the beach through vineyards. If the bike route on Google Maps describes light inclines, we quickly realized what that meant after just a few kilometers. Honestly, it can be managed without assistance.

We reach Mèze coming from the west through a residential area. The last few meters before the harbor run along the shore. So far, the place seems rather unremarkable, but around the harbor, there’s a pleasant atmosphere with many restaurants. We actually wanted to have our dessert, but our attempt at the first restaurant immediately failed. We had no table.

There were still plenty of tables available, the neighboring table was just being served food, we didn't need to think long, we hadn't properly parked our bikes yet. So we continued along the suggested route. My first officer had issues with pollen, his eyes were already more than offended. Returning to the harbor still took about an hour, so we decided to get to our home pharmacy near Gustav as quickly as possible.

There, we had a final beer by the dock and wrapped up the day, after all, we wanted to prepare Gustav for the canal trip on the Canal du Rhône à Sète on Sunday. The deck needed to be dismantled; our 5.25 meters was clearly too high for the challenges ahead in the following days.

The bridge registration for passing through Sète is mandatory and done online; you could find the bridge opening hours in the images in the next report. We needed to refuel; our reserve lasts just until before Lyon, but….

Now the weather threw a few more twists at us, so finally, our tarpaulin came into play, our summer bimini is not quite so waterproof and some rain was also in the forecast for the travel day on Monday.

Lastly, set the clock for 110 and remember it’s a workday on Sunday. Inland, here we come.
