From Kehl on the Rhine Side Canal to Iffezheim

The next stage of our journey takes us on the Rhine Side Canal to Iffezheim to the MBC-Iffezheim. It is also the final stretch on the Rhine where we will be locked through.

We managed to get a good start, allowing us to enter the locks in a timely manner, and we were alone in the chamber every time without having to wait.

The closer we get to Iffezheim, the more pronounced the Northern Black Forest becomes behind the dam and riverbank foliage.

The journey on the Rhine Canal is the necessary evil if one chooses the route via the Rhine-Rhone Canal.

We had already set off just before 7, as some precipitation was forecasted around midday on the route.

Thus, we arrived at our destination port before noon and could enjoy the rest of the day on board. Our dock neighbors were very talkative, especially since a boat arriving from Barcelona doesn’t dock in Iffezheim every day.

We kept an eye on the Rhine levels, as the beach holiday will be transferred to Erfelden.
