In Breisach, we once planned to cross the Kaiserstuhl and visit Freiburg. However, since my Chinese friend reported foot problems, larger excursions were off the table for the time being. So, we decided to stay for three nights, aiming to relax from the canal trips, shop, do laundry, and go out to eat again.

The port of Breisach serves as the base for all river cruise travelers, who are picked up by buses and can either visit Freiburg or taste the finest wines at selected vineyards in the Kaiserstuhl. Be that as it may, the city itself provides the docks, and mass tourism somewhat bypasses the city. Motorhome travelers and cyclists make up the main group of tourists.

At the port, we received some recommendations on where to eat, and we chose Kläsles Restaurant by the Rhine. We reserved a table in the morning, overlooking the Rhine, as one would expect. We can recommend the restaurant, and I am sure there are even finer establishments in the Kaiserstuhl area.

Additionally, the port's recommendation was that if you head to the marketplace, it’s hard to miss an ice cream shop along the way. How true, the ice café Eis Pavillon Incontro Breisach is definitely worth a break. We were thrilled, partly because we hadn’t had ice cream since Spain, as the prices in France are simply exorbitant.

We had breakfast on Sunday at Café Ihringer, which is also a recommendation.

On Sunday, the Fronleichnam procession took place in the marketplace; we couldn't find out why it was on a Sunday.

We skipped the visit to the Breisach Cathedral of St. Stephen, as we had already been there a few years ago.

Contrary to our previous assessment, we experienced the city from a completely different perspective this time; definitely worth a detour again.
