After my stay in Berlin, I spontaneously decided to see a new country. Such a flexible train ticket is sometimes really a dream. You just pick a train and set off to travel to a new place.

In this case, Poland. I had never been to Poland and wanted to catch some Baltic Sea air, especially since it was summer and I wanted to go swimming!
So, off to the train and, thanks to delays, six and a half hours later, I was in Gdansk.

Gdansk is divided into three parts: the Main City, the Old Town, and the New Town. The Main City is probably the most significant part of Gdansk with the most attractions.

On my first afternoon, I took a closer look at this area and simply walked through the streets, admiring the buildings and sights from the outside.

In the evening, I took a nice walk along the water.

And then I rode a Ferris wheel for the first time in ages. It's a bit nerve-wracking when you're hanging over the ground in such a gondola. I was glad when I was back down, but the view was definitely worth it. A panoramic view of Gdansk at beautiful evening light.

And a Ferris wheel can also look really beautiful when it’s dark:

The next day I used to go properly to the sea. From the center of Gdansk, I continued a bit along the coast to Sopot.

Unfortunately, to my regret, it was way too cold to go swimming, and I usually don’t miss an opportunity when I see the sea. Nevertheless, I made the best of it, walked along the coast, and enjoyed a leisurely two-hour stroll to one of the next stations.

Despite not being able to swim, it was a very successful trip with plenty of sea air and sand under my feet.
On my last morning in Gdansk, I passed by my favorite spots again and was able to discover several new things.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first time in Gdansk and Poland in general. I mean, the sea will always hold a special place in my heart. Fresh air and the sound of the waves are truly calming.
After much deliberation over what my next stop should be, I decided on Poznan. So, back on the train and off to Poznan!
