Vietnam (Day 107-116)

Day 107 Journey to Ha Giang

Before breakfast, Jan quickly returned the scooter. After that, we packed our things and waited in the lobby. At 11:00 AM, we were picked up by a mini van. It took us a bit out of the city and we switched to a VIP sleeper bus. Unfortunately, the journey in the bus took longer than expected and we arrived in the evening around 6:30 PM.

After checking in, we initially went out for dinner. Upon returning to the hostel, we started packing our small backpacks for the next days.

The night was not very restful, as it was extremely warm in the room.

Day 108 Ha Giang Loop 1

I was woken up at 7:20 AM by an employee of the hostel. I was the only one in the room still sleeping, as Jan was already in the bathroom and the other two people in the room were already awake. In the WhatsApp message we received from the trip organizer, it stated that we should be picked up between 8:00 - 8:30 AM. So that was probably a mistake!

After quickly getting ready, we went outside and crossed to the other side of the street. From there, we were taken to the main location by motorcycles. There, breakfast was served and we received a t-shirt from the hostel. Thankfully, we could leave our large backpacks there.

After breakfast, we were divided into groups and each received our own driver.

The motorcycles were filled up with fuel, and then the tour began. Shortly after, we made our first stop at a viewpoint. We continued driving through the beautiful nature and mountainous landscape of Vietnam.

We also took breaks every 20 to 30 minutes at a viewpoint or sometimes at a waterfall. We made another stop in a small village, where we visited older women who crafted items and sold them.

At 12:30 PM, we finally had lunch with the whole group. Our group consisted of 4 French, one Swiss, one Irish, and another German.

During lunch, we could chat and get to know each other better.

After an hour, the tour continued. I must say, I was really lucky with my driver. Although she couldn't speak English very well, she was super nice.

After about 20 minutes, we made another stop where we could get something to drink or a small snack.

Around 4:00 PM, we finally arrived at our accommodation.

We had a dorm with many bunk beds, and there were no curtains between the beds, so you were practically lying right next to each other.

Luckily, the dorm was not completely filled and we knew the people a bit better by now. To
