Day 3 – Between Waterfalls, Adventure Transport, and Much-Needed Carbohydrates
The third day of vacation began after breakfast with the spontaneous idea to visit the waterfalls of Manavgat. So, we hopped on the Dolmuş – for a truly modest fare. In Germany, you probably wouldn't even get half a parking space for that price.
Upon arriving in Manavgat, we were quite professionally persuaded to go on a boat tour. It was said to be “completely relaxed.” So we boarded the boat... well, almost. Before we really set off, we stopped twice more to pick up additional guests. We briefly worried that we would end up collecting the entire Turkish Riviera.
But finally, we were off, and the ride turned out to be surprisingly calm and relaxed. Until we reached the small waterfall. There, we had to exit the boat – not over a cozy dock up to German standards, but rather under the motto: “Good luck and hold on tight!” A little athletic jump here, some balance there, and everyone was happily back on land.
After that, we were crammed into a minibus that had probably seen better days. “Rundown” describes its condition kindly. But it drove – mostly, at least – and took us to the waterfall. And it was truly worth seeing. Nature in Turkey can definitely impress.
Then the same tour back: trusty minibus, athletic boarding of the boat, and a comfortable return to Manavgat.
Of course, a little stroll through the market was a must afterwards. And as already noted: clothes will always be in demand. The suitcase is slowly becoming a challenge for the return trip.
Back at the hotel, we urgently needed to refuel – in the form of carbohydrates and liquids. So, basically medically necessary supplies of beer and wine.
After another darts game by the pool, it was time to relax and gather strength for dinner. Yes, one also needs to prepare for that nowadays.
We now spend the evening comfortably on the bar terrace with a live band in the background. And later, we’ll head over to the Irish Pub in the hotel. The vacation remains exhausting – but in a very pleasant way.
