Today we are leaving a bit earlier. It is raining heavily for the first time today. We are on our way to Le Vauclin, the most important fishing port in Martinique. The rain is stopping again, but it is very windy. Perfect weather for kite and windsurfing at the beach. We are just watching. We continue along narrow, bumpy roads to the Jardin de la Montagne, a beautifully scenic garden in the mountains. We can admire beautiful plants - coffee, cocoa, orchids, turmeric, hummingbirds, and also a few lizards. There are many wonderful views of the sea during this drive. Back at sea level, we head towards Cap Macabou, where we can't really swim because it is very stormy. The road is bad again. There are many large holes in the roadway, and the GPS is guiding us right into them. After the exhausting drive into the mountains, Babsi is quite annoyed, and we switch drivers. We continue towards Anse Michele - a small cove with a little local place and fun staff. It is just lovely to sit under the palm trees and look out at the sea. The sea on this side is also too stormy for swimming. We drive to the quartier and enjoy the evening on the terrace.
