The flight from Jakarta to Flores Island takes only 2.5 hours, flying over Bali and Lombok. In Flores, we land at Komodo Airport, very close to Labuan Bajo. The drive from the...

We arrive in Singapore late at night and take a Grab taxi to our hotel. The hotel is called Naumi and is centrally located next to the historic Raffles Hotel. Since Andreas is still suffering from his sunburn, I venture out alone to find something edible for dinner. Unfortunately, there's only a 7Eleven shop nearby where I can get two pizzas heated up. I also grab something to drink and some snacks. Singapore is significantly more expensive compared to Indonesia. The hotel room costs about 200 Euros, and it's not a luxurious setup.
The next morning, I get something for breakfast, as Andreas doesn't want to leave the room yet. I also look for a laundromat to finally clean our clothes. I spend the afternoon exploring the city center of Singapore, walking through the Raffles and Funan shopping malls, and visiting the National Gallery of Singapore. There is currently a special exhibition of French Impressionists on display, which is a really great exhibition. I spend a lot of time there. After that, I quickly walk to the black and white statue of Sir Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore, and the Armenian Church, which is the oldest church in Singapore, dating back to 1835. Next to it, there is a park area on a hill with the former fort of Singapore.
Everywhere in Singapore is already decorated for Christmas, in the malls and hotels.
Since Andreas has a craving for McDonald's, I bring him two burgers to the hotel room.
The following evening, Hatsune Miku's concert in Singapore takes place, and Andreas wants to rest so he can go to the concert in the afternoon. I get him something for breakfast and take the time to visit the National Museum. I go to the café there and then to the exhibition about the history of Singapore. Unfortunately, only a few exhibition rooms are accessible since the museum is being renovated until the end of 2026. So the museum experience was rather limited for me.
Afterwards, I walk to Marina Bay and admire the architecture. For example, there is a building designed to resemble a durian fruit.
Unfortunately, at this time, the white Merlion statue is undergoing maintenance; it cannot be viewed as scaffolding with a tarp has been set up around it.
I walk around Marina Bay and stroll through the shopping mall below the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. If you are in need of luxury items, you will surely find what you're looking for there.
From there, there is access to the Gardens by the Bay. Since I hope Andreas will be fit again tomorrow, I don't visit the two domes yet.
As usual, it gets dark around 7:00 PM, and the museums close quite early. I don't feel like spending time in a mall and head back to the hotel. At some point later, Andreas arrives after he refueled at McDonald's after the concert.
After breakfast at a French bakery in the Raffles mall, we walk to Fort Canning Park, which I visited the day before. We visit an underground bunker there.
Then I show him the old and new Parliament of Singapore and Marina Bay. There, we take a spin on the Singapore Flyer Ferris wheel and then walk over a double-helix bridge through the Marina Bay Sands shopping mall to the Gardens by the Bay. We buy tickets for the extra highlights 'Gardens of the World' and 'Cloudforest'. The latter exhibition was especially great, as it was somewhat reminiscent of Jurassic Park.
It gets dark again, and we look for a suitable spot to watch the light show with the Supertrees at 7:45 PM. The show, with musical accompaniment, was impressive. In the meantime, we have fast-food dinner again. Along the way, we chat with a nice older couple from Australia.
After the show, we are tired and walk back to the hotel.
