Before we take our flight from Phoenix to Dallas, we get driven to Downtown Phoenix. It’s already very hot at 9 AM, and we first head to a Starbucks to have some breakfast. The day before, I had tried to find something interesting to see in Phoenix, but unfortunately without success.

We spend an hour at Starbucks; by the way, it’s located in a great, presumably expensive hotel with numerous art pieces in the hotel lobby.

Then we consider how to get to the airport; our flight departs at 1:50 PM.

We decide to use public transport and ask a group of people in orange vests, who call themselves Phoenix Ambassadors, obviously knowledgeable, how to get to the airport. They first had to ask another person which metro line we could take. At the ticket machine, we each purchase a ticket for 2 dollars and are indeed checked on the train.

The metro takes us to the Skytrain, a small self-driving monorail that operates between the metro station and the airport.

We kill some time at the gate until boarding.

The flight to Dallas, Texas takes 2.5 hours, but we travel 2 hours into the future as we cross time zones.

Upon arriving in Dallas, we decide to first go downtown to visit the Reunion Tower. It was built in 1971 and is a landmark of the city. In the evening, it is illuminated, and from the dome, you can view the entire city from above.

Afterwards, Andreas grabs his dinner at McDonald's. Then we drive to our accommodation and experience a massive shock. Upon opening the front door, we are greeted by a completely messy hoarder’s apartment. We make our presence known, but no one is visible. There are several doors that could lead to our room. Behind one door, light seeps through the crack. When I call out, a man looks out, but he can't tell us which room is ours. Another door opens, and a woman looks out; she points us to the door she thinks leads to our room. I cautiously open the door; it seems to be the right room, as there is a bed and a mattress on the floor. The bathroom appears to be a shared bathroom for all guests.

Unfortunately, we have to spend two nights here; if we can't stand it, we'll look for a hotel room.
