a dreamlike little spot...

We started the 2nd day at Hotel Laki with a wonderful and generous breakfast. There was again this wonderful, still warm, homemade bread with cranberries, sesame, pumpkin seeds, and so on..., waffles, fruit, coffee, and a sunny spot for 2 :-)

and the day had even more in store for us.

After stowing our luggage, we were supposed to reattach the trailer, but I had forgotten to turn off the low beam after yesterday's adventures and completely drained the battery.

The charger and battery are available, but it still takes too long; so I got out the jump-start cables and asked the helpful staff for a jump start and not even 10 minutes later, everything was running as expected :-)

After a short drive on the 204 to charge the battery, we headed back towards Kirkjuberjarklaustur with the destination 'Campground Kleifarmörk'.

Even from the road, we could see behind a Einbreið Brú (typical single-lane bridges in Iceland) a barren parking spot with a small tent and two or three campers, hmmm too bad - but then a wonderful waterfall appeared on the left side of the road, not cascading from a great height, but elegantly flowing over a huge, round-shaped rock.

We parked directly by the small washroom and spotted a meadow behind it, framed by small trees, with a view of the waterfall :-) There was plenty of space, as besides 2 small storm tents, there was only meadow.

Quickly, a wind-protected spot was found, setting up the tent went smoothly, and there was still some time for a short drone flight and a tasty coffee before the forecasted rain,

It darkened considerably, poured briefly and heavily, and then popped up another one of those beautiful rainbows drawn by the sun in the still dark sky. After that, there were a few hail and sleet showers before Iceland showed itself again from its sunny side.

We explored the immediate surroundings and the 'infrastructure' of the campground.

2 very clean toilets, an open kitchen area with two sinks, two power outlets, and to our surprise, a 'house-owned' small kettle as well as running cold water - everything fits!

But what's this, a tour bus comes around the corner, parks across from the RV parking spot, and suddenly colorful little Asians stream out, tip tip, click click, back again and further. This happened 2 more times before peace returned. Luckily, this little side effect remained in the following days, perhaps due to the Pentecost holidays :-)

We end the evening in our cozy 'bathrobes' with a view of the waterfall...
