Long Story Short.

I could write a novel or perhaps better a drama about our journey through Sweden. To be honest, there is already an infinitely long text detailing the trip that I can’t seem to finish. Therefore, I would like to summarize the chapter on Sweden briefly and concisely.

Julia and I had the plan to drive from Lulea in northern Sweden, via Stockholm to Copenhagen. We had 2.5 weeks for the journey.

Something’s brewing

After a first beautiful night and a full second day, we found a camping spot at “Killingssand” beach. Unfortunately, we got stuck in the sand there. After a while, we managed to free ourselves. The next day, we wanted to make some distance. Then I noticed that Emma's brake pedal was gradually getting weaker. The braking performance had significantly declined, and after a while I could press the brake pedal completely down.

So, we spent 1.5 weeks going from workshop to workshop, looking for help and capable people who could solve our problem. Unfortunately, it’s very difficult to find an open auto repair shop in Sweden in July due to national “holidays.”

Overall, the Swedes were very helpful, and whenever a workshop was open, they always tried to help us immediately.

Finally the rescue

After various attempts to solve the problem, we finally made one last attempt. The staff at the workshop made a great effort to help us. They discovered that the brake booster was defective and even managed to organize a replacement part from another vehicle for the next day and install it for us. Thus, after an uncomfortable night in the workshop’s parking lot, we were finally able to drive off again with Emma the next day.

Fortunately, this time the problem was solved for good, and we could enjoy our remaining time more and more each day.

Along the way, we visited some lovely places and stood by several beautiful lakes with crystal clear waters. We hiked in Skuleskogen National Park, had Fika (coffee and cinnamon rolls) in a summer café, and discussed our feelings more than ever.

Back to trust

When we were finally able to travel carefree again, we visited the historical Friluftsmuseet “Gamla Uppsala,” where there are ancient burial mounds of the Celts, a lovely old church, and a small old farming village to visit.

The South

In Stockholm, we enjoyed the weather with Fika and a delicious vegan dinner and tried to feel free and lighthearted again.

After that, we visited Michel from Löneberga at the Katulthof and the little village of Bullerbyn.

It became adventurous like Lara Croft in a decommissioned slate mine, which led through a 30-meter-long dark tunnel.

We visited a national park in the moor and spent our last evening in Malmö again with a nice dinner and a stroll through the city.

On the last day, we crossed the Öresund Bridge where Julia then flew back home from Copenhagen.

Long story short.

I could write a novel, or perhaps better yet, a drama about our trip through Sweden. To be honest, I already have an endless text detailing the trip, which I just can't seem to finish. That's why I'd like to summarize the Sweden chapter here briefly and concisely.

Julia and I had planned to drive from Lulea in northern Sweden to Copenhagen via Stockholm. We had 2.5 weeks for the trip.

Something's brewing

After a wonderful first night and a full second day, we found a parking spot at Killingssand Beach. Unfortunately, we got stuck in the sand there. After a while, we were able to free ourselves. The next day, we wanted to cover some distance. Then I noticed that Emma's brake pedal was gradually getting weaker. The braking performance deteriorated significantly, and after a while I could press the brake pedal all the way down.

So we spent 1.5 weeks going from garage to garage looking for help and skilled people who could solve our problem. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find an open car repair shop in Sweden in July due to the national “holidays.”

Overall, however, the Swedes were very helpful; whenever a repair shop was open, they always tried to help us right away.

Finally, rescue

After trying everything to solve the problem, we finally made one last attempt. The workshop staff went to great lengths to help us. They determined that the brake booster was defective and even managed to organize a replacement part from another car for the next day and install it for us. So, after an unpleasant night in the workshop parking lot, we were finally able to set off again with Emma the next day.

Fortunately, the problem was solved for good this time, and we were able to enjoy the rest of our trip more and more each day.

We still visited some beautiful places, stood by several gorgeous lakes with crystal-clear water, hiked in Skuleskogen National Park, had fika (coffee and cinnamon buns) at a summer café, and talked more than ever about how we were feeling.

Back to trust

When we were finally able to travel without worries again, we visited the historic Friluftsmuseet “Gamla Uppsala,” where we saw ancient Celtic burial mounds, a pretty old church, and a small old farming village.

The south

In Stockholm, we enjoyed the weather with fika and a delicious vegan dinner and tried to feel free and lighthearted once again.

Afterwards, we visited Michel from Löneberga at the Katulthof and the village of Bullerbyn.

It was as adventurous as Lara Croft in a disused slate mine, which led through a 30-meter-long, dark tunnel.

We visited a national park in the moor and ended our last evening in Malmö with a delicious dinner and a stroll through the city.

On the last day, we crossed the Öresund Bridge, where Julia flew back home from Copenhagen.
