Today, the alarm rang mercilessly early at 7:00 AM, but Ursula and I practically jumped out of bed. After all, an adventure awaited us that would take us out of the hectic big city and deep into the heart of the Mekong Delta. By 7:45, the tour bus was promptly in front of the hotel, and after two more stops, our little group was complete. Destination? A day full of nature, culture, and water.
After about two hours of driving, we stopped at the impressive Vĩnh-Tràng Temple, a fascinating mix of Vietnamese, Chinese, and French architecture. The imposing Buddha statues, the artistic bonsai trees, and the peaceful atmosphere made even Ursula pause for a moment – a beautiful start to the day.
After another ten minutes on the bus, we reached the harbor and boarded a boat. It was an uplifting feeling to glide over the mighty Mekong – this river that flows through six countries before shaping the delta in Vietnam and emptying into the South China Sea.
