The route later runs exclusively along the Saône through Chalon and Tournus to Mâcon. Always heading south.

In Chalon, there is a service stop for the bike (laundry, chain oil, air) after yesterday's rain and mud struggle. And just before the destination, the first breakdown occurs when a branch gets into the derailleur. Luckily, just the chain came off and got stuck. Everything can be fixed with onboard tools.
