A Day Riding in the Group
From Mâcon to Lyon

Published: 14.05.2026
This morning I first rode around Lyon a bit: up to the Basilica of Notre Dame with a view over the city, through the old town, through the nearly 2 km long bike tunnel between the banks of the Saône and Rhône rivers, and to the confluence of the Saône and Rhône rivers.
Thus, after 700 km, the Voie Bleue ends, and I will now follow the Via Rhona until the end of the tour.
The route out of Lyon to the south through the suburbs of Lyon and along industrial sites is not the most picturesque section of the tour, but with the stage destination Vienne, I now have that behind me. With the frequent (short) showers and thunderstorms, I was always able to find good shelter, so I didn't get properly wet. Now it is raining outside over the Rhône, but I can watch that relaxedly from my hotel room.
Km/Day 52.19
Total km 928.65
