A Day Riding in the Group

After the French breakfast at the small hotel in Mâcon on the banks of the Saône, I take a brief look around the promenade. Then, with perfect cycling weather, I hit the road, again exclusively along the banks of the Saône heading south.

After 10 km, I catch up with a larger group of cyclists and recognize the people from Grevenbroich (see stages Metz to Epinal), to which four French riders have joined. We ride the route to Lyon together, enjoying nice conversations during the ride and at lunch. Since at least one of the French cyclists is a former professional racer, we also make good progress.

Just before Lyon, we part ways since we have different hotels.
