The - slow - train leaves at 7:17 AM, so we have to get up very early. However, the check-in at the Zhangjiajie train station is very quick, as it is not large. Although we travel at times at 245 km/h, there are many stops and slow sections on the route.
In Guilin, it is hot and humid. We first visit Fubo Mountain and the Buddha cave system; some determined individuals even climb it for the fantastic view.
After that, we take a stroll through the very touristy pedestrian zone, which has regular department stores but also a lot of trinkets.
Guilin is a lovely city with some lakes that are illuminated in colorful lights at night. Residents gather by the shore to make music, sing, and dance.
