After an hour's bus ride, one reaches the departure point for several excursion boats in Tantiping. The check-in is similar to that for trains and airplanes: luggage control, facial recognition. There are reserved seats.
The landscape is bizarre, the Li River winds its way between several rocks and pointed hills. The final port, Yangshuo, is actually just a collection of restaurants and souvenir shops.
