May 25 Rice Terraces of Longsheng

Located about an hour and a half by bus from Guilin, the famous rice terraces are situated at an altitude of around 900 to 1200 meters. Access to the area is only permitted via shuttle buses.

From their upper stop, one can either hike up for 1.5 hours or take an open cart to the top.

At the top, there are views, local eateries, and a beautifully designed hiking trail leading to the 9 Star and Moon Pagoda.

The rice terraces were artificially created through painstaking manual labor, are in some places less than a meter wide, and are still actively cultivated today.
