Day 3. From Beppu to Hiroshima
The day 3 started with a city walk through Beppu to the sea, to cool our feet. Here you occasionally come across amusing things... like a vending machine with edible insects......

Getting up a little earlier than usual🥱... to have breakfast at 6:30 AM.
The boat left from Hiroshima Peace Park to Mijajima at 08:45, an island off the coast of Hiroshima known for its many traditional Shinto shrines and temples.
The iconic floating Torii of the Itsukushima Shrine is well-known here.
Since it was again 32 degrees today, we first took the cable car towards Mt. Misen... then the rest on foot, as a bit of hiking should not be missed in Japan.
You are rewarded with a great view over Hiroshima Bay all the way to the mountains... a beautiful area.
On the way back, we passed through the temple complex of Daiohoin, which we find is very beautifully landscaped... the monks probably spend a lot of time knitting...😄
In the late afternoon, we took the ferry and streetcar back to the hotel.
