Today we say goodbye to Hiroshima with a bit of nostalgia and travel to Kõya, which is 400 km away and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
About 700 monks of Shingon Buddhism live here.
We started again with the Shinkansen to cover the distance quickly. We took a detour by tram to Osaka, where we visited the Namba-Yasaka Shrine. Here, the 2 lions with their mouths open and closed represent the beginning and the end of the Japanese alphabet.
Afterwards, we indulged in the vibrant hustle and bustle of the crazy city of Osaka and tried the local specialty called Takoyaki (octopus balls), which was very delicious...
We then continued with public transport and a cable car to Kõya, where we get to eat, wash, and sleep very simply with the monks...
