The day 3 started with a city walk through Beppu to the sea, to cool our feet. Here you occasionally come across amusing things... like a vending machine with edible insects... well, to each their own...🤮
After a brief detour to DonQuichote... a discount store with a strange product selection, we headed to the station to take the blue Sonic express train 883 to Kokura, where we transferred to the Shinkansen to Hiroshima. It's hardly worth mentioning that all the trains were perfectly timed with one another... The Shinkansen is amazing...
We took the tram to the hotel. After checking in, we visited the Peace Museum and the accompanying park. One must say, it is unbelievable the suffering that the people and the city endured from the atomic bomb attack... it's quite heavy to fully take in the museum.

For dinner, the tip was Okonomimura... a kind of pancake with a base of udon noodles served on a hot plate... Really very tasty..
