Day 1. The journey to Japan
We were on the road for 17 hours from Frankfurt with a stopover in Hong Kong and a connecting flight to Fukuoka.. Fortunately, a seat next to us remained empty after Frankfurt.....

After our first Japanese breakfast, which was good, but one has to get used to having soup, rice, and fish in the morning, we went into the city to visit the first shrine of our journey, the Sumiyoshi Shrine, a tranquil oasis in the middle of the city that is very well maintained.
For lunch, we picked up our meal at the station for the train ride to Beppo, and we set off punctually at 12:00 on a train with carriages featuring wooden floors and lights with glass shades on the walls.
It's quite clever that when the train changes direction, all passengers stand up to press a button to rotate the seats to sit in the direction of travel again.
After checking in at Beppo, we headed straight to the Hell of Beppo. Here, you can feel and see the volcanic activities firsthand. The first onsen visit at the hotel was on the agenda... Important: follow the rules there..😊.
The day ended with dinner at a fantastic Japanese restaurant... here it is customary to take off your shoes when eating.
